EDITORIAL EXPERIENCE

Freelance Editor, 1982/2006. Highlights: Edited John Crowley’s novel, Dæmonomania (Bantam Books, 2000); Crowley wrote, “Ron’s work was at one end meticulous and painstaking, and at the other large-spirited and helpful with the biggest questions of the book.” Critiqued and copyedited the English translation by Olga Broumas and T Begley of Open Papers (Copper Canyon Press, 1995), a collection of essays by Nobel Laureate Odysseas Elytis. Edited and proofread numerous titles by Samuel R. Delany, including Longer Views (Wesleyan University Press, 1996), Dhalgren (Vintage Books, 2001), and Shoat Rumblin, a work in progress (2002); Delany wrote, “Ron’s editorial acumen is the highest I have encountered in a professional writing career of more than thirty years.”

Incunabula, 1992/present. Editor and Publisher of small press dedicated to producing fine editions of original works by select writers. Published Antiquities: Seven Stories (1993) by John Crowley, short-listed for the World Fantasy Award in 1994; They Fly at Çiron (1993) and Atlantis: Three Tales (1995) by Samuel R. Delany; and “Solutions to Everything” (1994), a broadside by Michael Ventura. Produced the trade edition of Atlantis for Wesleyan University Press. Current project: a deluxe 25th anniversary edition of John Crowley’s novel, Little, Big.
